Sustainable Aerospace and Clean Energy

Bridging quantum chemistry computation with reacting flow modeling
USC_Library_side_cropped.jpeg

Welcome to the Sustainable Aerospace and Clean Energy (SACE) research group led by Prof. Rui (Ray) Xu. We are part of the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC).

Our research mission is to advance sustainable aerospace propulsion and clean energy transitions. We develop high-performance, multiscale computational approaches for reacting flows, and bridge fast quantum chemistry calculation, chemical kinetic modeling, and turbulence-resolved flow simulations, with the aid of machine learning and data-driven methods.

Recent News & Announcements

We have multiple openings for graduate students, postdocs, and undergraduate students to join our team, starting in Spring and Fall 2025. Interested candidates may email CV and research interests to Prof. Rui Xu (rui.ray.xu@usc.edu). Read more details here on our group opening page.
